Super Mario 64 Ds Rom Hacks
Could someone help me make a hack of Super Mario 64 DS? Aside from unpacking the rom with dslazy, I don't really know where to start.Well, here's what I want the hack to be like. Mario is the only playable charicter. So, when the game starts, you are playing as him. When you enter the castle, you find yourself in 'Bowser in the Dark World.' But when you enter the pipe that would normally take you to the battle with Bowser, you find yourself in 'Bowser in the Fire Sea.' Again, when you enter the pipe that would normally take you to the battle with Bowser, you end up in 'Bowser in the Sky.' When you enter the pipe at the end of 'Bowser in the Sky,' you find yourself at the final bowser battle just like you normally would. If this 'entering the tube consept' is beyond public nds hacking knoledge, then I'll be open minded.
Instead of using the tube consept, when you enter the castle, you find yourself in 'Bowser in the Sky'You'd have unlimited lives in the hack.Last, I'd want to edit some of the text. So if anyone knows how to do so, please tell me. El stomacho rayman. It's a bit of a complicated hack, but it would be pretty cool as well as please me, give me much enjoyment, and, perhaps, I hope, give others enjoyment as well. So, if someone wouldn't mind helping me out, I'd apriciate it.p.s.

I made the exact same post on another forum. So if you see this post on another site, it's no fraud. But no one on that site wants to help me, so I decided to ask here.
Why do I want to do it you ask?I'm trying to turn the game (or atlest three levels of the game) into something more classic. The idea is that what is supposed to be princess peach's castle is, in this hack, bowser's castle.
So, when you go inside, you find yourself in 'Bowser in the dark world' which very well could be a place that is inside bowser's castle. The same is true for fire sea and sky.
So, you jorney threw bowsers castle untill you find bowser. You fight bowser and rescue peach.
Makes sense right?Yes, I know, princess peach's castle doesn't look much like bowser's castle. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good. But I still haven't answered you question have I I want to make this hack so that I can play it.
Oh, and for the record, if YOU want to play this hack, if I actually make this hack I'll be perfectly happy to upload the Ips file. Now do I need to make the hack? I want to make the hack. If you know how to hack roms PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN MAKE THIS HACK!!! PLEASE!!!If you help me, I'll treat you like this:If you DON'T help me, I'm going to cry:'(You don't want that right? So please me how to make this hack.
Or atleast I've tried to make a simpler version. What I do is I go to the folder data/data/stage. I then open up two folers (in diffren't windows, of corse). They are Koopa3map and maincastle. I copy the files inside koopa3map into the maincastle folder and rename the koopa3map files with the name of there corrisponding maincastle file, in the prosses deleting the real maincastle files. But, when I repack the game and put it on my flashcart (My flashcart has clean rom support) the game crashes at startup.I've tried agian several times. Each time this is what I feel like doinglook, the fact is I don't really have a clue what I'm doing. I need some help! Please teach me how to make my hack.

This is the easiest way I've found to do it on a PC for the European version.Copy into a text file called 'Super Mario 64 DS (E).cht' and put it in the RetroArch cheats folder. Start the game with DeSmuME and load a save. Load the cheat file, turn them on and then apply. Under the core options change 'Pointer Mode for Left Analog' to pressed.
You should now have analog controls.I found this. It forces the virtual joystick to stay centered at all times. The graphic joystick will still move around but it affects nothing. There's a cheat for the US version but I don't know if it's for 1.0 or 1.1.I set the screens to quick switch and it feels like what the game should have been.
Since the touch screen is pressed all the time you can't navigate the bottom screen menus anyway but this doesn't really matter once you've loaded the save. I've had no issues playing otherwise. With this analog hack, increased resolution, and texture filtering, the biggest flaws the DS version had over the original are gone.Edit: Make sure 'Emulated Pointer Deadzone Percent' is set to 0 in the core options or the full analog range won't be used and the camera controls will end up getting pressed. Mario 64 DS has two different control schemes built-in by Nintendo. The default one uses the D-Pad that can only do 8 directions and all-or-nothing presses. An alternate one was made by Nintendo developers who thought losing on analog controls was too bad, which ports the entire original analog implementation (360° directions, Mario can walk or run) but binds them to the touch screen as stylus sweeps (hence losing the origin point). They even sold an add-on to wear on fingers to rub the screen directly (which ended up coveted by fans of a certain other import game involving witches and discontinued quickly, but.
Let's not get there) - funny how for a launch game it made the system look bad. What's cool is that these are different fixes to the same problem. The solutions available so far took different approaches. PWMove works with the default SM64DS D-Pad mode but produces fluid, good-enough movement. It's close to 360° movement but still restricted. Definitely still useful for other DS games stuck with D-Pad controls (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series, etc). OP's method is using a pointer-to-analog solution (Pointer Mode for Left Analog for PC retroarch) and a cheat code to forcibly reset the digital touch screen with the alternate 'analog' SM64DS mode.
This preserves the original analog control programming already left in by Nintendo even in the DS version. A general implementation could be useful for Kid Icarus 3DS, and a few games controlled with trackballs (The Wizard of Oz on DS). Similar to OP's method except with a romhacked SM64DS rom (with the origin point reset thing implemented) and a special program by SKEULUX run alongside the DS emulator of your choice. It displays a yellow circle on the touch screen. It's on the origami64 forums.
Apparently got taken down repeatedly by copycats who then uploaded their own (paid!) clones of that add-on.Retroarch could use a basic implementation of PWMove and a custom cheat+analog control database of games with touch screen controls that could be improved this way.For starters, porting that SM64DS cheat to all regions of the ROM and improving it (to force analog mode, and to be active only during game mode so that the touch screen navigation is not affected) could be a nice starting point. Doki Doki Majo Shinpan. It’s a crappy RPG of sorts from SNK Playmore where you play as a teenage “bad boy” blackmailed by a perverted angel on probation to help her find witches who've infiltrated the school. You determine whether a girl is a witch or not by tickling her erogenous zones and seeing if a “witch mark” appears. The witch tickling is a tiny part of the game – the vast majority of it consists of clicking through poorly-written dialogue.
The witch tickling isn’t even really fun, it’s really just frustrating. There’s also a subquest to find all the “reverse pandas” hiding around the school, which you can do across multiple play-throughs. You basically go to different places at different times of day and look for out-of-place black pixels. I found most of them, but I think a few might be missable as I can’t work out how to get them. I also don’t want to start the game again as it’s really boring.Overall the game isn’t much fun. The gimmick that sold it is a tiny part of it, the writing is terrible, the voice acting is irritating, and there's almost no gameplay. Just look for some YouTube videos if you’re curious. I think it's because GBA games use chiptune music and don't try much to use songs with other instruments while the DS does, but has bad audio quality as a system.A good example is TWEWY vs almost any popular GBA game like Pokemon Sapphire. The systems both don't have the greatest audio capabilities, but the DS frequently pushed these more nuanced songs that approach decent audio quality or garble fully instrumented music.
Always in between the GBA and the 3ds which finally sounded good enough for orchestrated music imo.
