That's got to hurt! Get used to the sight of cars crashing into each other in racesCRASH, bang, wallop that’s the sound of this game skidding its way on to your TV screen where it will park itself for a very long time.Because DiRT Showdown is an addictive, adrenaline-fuelled racing romp that leaves you screeching louder than smoked tyres as you demand more.More smashing.
More demolition. More bumper-breaking action.Showdown is an arcade version of Codemasters’ immaculate DiRT series. But unlike those games, this one focuses more on the fun side of racing. For the petrol-heads amongst you, do not fret. Although the handling is slightly easier to manage, there is still an element of driving skill required during the racing sections.Career mode is a good place to start. It sees you progress through four stages, from Pro to Legend, with a whole heap of events in-between.
These can vary from Hoonigan antics to Demolition events. Small but mighty: You'll be able to transform your car into a pocket rocketRampage is simply that - you in an arena against a load of other cars.
You’re rewarded for ramming and tearing up the opponents, with bigger points scored for bigger booms.Knock Out was also another event that gave smashing satisfaction. Here you are rewarded for knocking other drivers off a platform suspended in mid-air - it’s the sumo wrestling of the driving world. For fans of the hooning, you’ll love Smash Hunter. Time to split: Multi-player in DiRT is fantastic, and split screen is no exceptionVisually the game is masterful as well. Slick graphics mean you can see every dent in your bumper and every scratch on your paintwork. The commentary is a little too 'radical' for this gamer’s liking but the head-bopping score keeps you on the edge of your driving seat. And to top all of the craziness of is multi-player. It’s one thing to ram and destroy A.I-driven motors but it’s quite another to send your mates to the scrapyard. The racing and hooning is much more of a challenge when you’re up against real-life people who are vulnerable thanks to human error. As well going against friends, you can team up and play split screen.Tyre-squealing Scrooges will moan about that arcade feel to this game, that the other DiRT titles lend themselves to 'real' drivers. But that’s not the point of Showdown. This is a title that gets the gaming blood pumping.
Thundercats episodes 1. It exhausts all emotions and leaves you hungry for more. You won’t find a more entertaining racer this year.Boombastic brilliance.
